The first thing that got me on this article was the blogger's statement "Great for community sites, you can create a regular site with it but I would regard that as overkill." Joomla is perfect for regular sites. If your regular site happens to be a blog and you're a complete novice, Wordpress is better, but for any corporate site, blog such as this one and most other applications, Joomla is by far a more powerful platform (is my bias showing?) Also, the blogger doesn't define what a "regular site" is. Still good points on features of each platform.
Probably the longest article ever written on as a "Joomla versus", but none the less, a good read. There's tons of facts, tidbits of info and pros and cons, but you'll have to do a lot of reading. This article was overkill for me, but some people like really in depth comparisons. Problem is at the end of it, like many others, there's no real winner.
Another heavy hitter just couldn't resist the Joomla vs Wordpress vs Drupal showdown, and they've put together a nice infographic to illustrate -- that's a plus in my book, but the one thing I have to complain about is their statement that "Joomla's Not Intuitive". I believe it is. The whole structure makes sense. The other downside is that it's an old article.
Webtegrity - Joomla vs WordPress – Which is better for 2014? - And they call themselves web developers... HAH!
Ok, folks, this one made it because the sheer irony was just too funny. This company is a web development company that created an infographic, built a blog post around it, then SEO'ed the hell out of it, but in the end, the infographic won't zoom in to readable size! You have to right click, download and then view. Guess I won't be hiring this firm!
Sitepoint created a whole series of Joomla vs Wordpress posts, but in the end, and I'm only linking the last post, they couldn't even come to a conclusion! No winner, no loser. Could have at least thrown a personal opinion in there to tip the scale! I absolutely hate "versus" article writers that don't even have the balls to choose who's better in their mind.
Having reviewed all these articles and dozens more, I have to tell you... The Wordpress guys really know how to throw their own opinions in to "objective" comparisons. The Drupal guys are arrogant and conceited, and the Joomla reviewers... well, they like their CMS, but don't "dis" the competition, and that's one of the reasons that I love Joomla so much (there's my personal opinion for you).
The problem with all the reviews that I came across is that they don't add qualifiers to the review. What I'm saying is that none of them compare Joomla vs Wordpress vs Drupal for certain things a site owner might want to do... that is to say, noone does a review like "Joomla vs Wordpress - Who's better for a cheap e-commerce solution", or "Joomla vs Wordpress - Best Blogging Platform". I guess I'll have to do those myself.
